Wansfell Pike Walk

We start this walk by heading in the same direction as for Stock Ghyll Falls, passing by Stock Ghyll Park on our way up Stock Ghyll Lane

Half a mile out of town, we pass over a cattle grid, and shortly after go over a wall via a large stile, to follow the well worn path up the fell side to the summit of Wansfell Pike.

It's quite a steep climb, but as you ascend the views behind you get better and better. If you are not used to steep hills, then the best way to tackle the climb is slowly, heading for points on the path ahead of you, and then when you reach them rewarding yourself with a drink and a rest.

Just before the summit you go through a gap in a wall, and the final part of the path snakes up and over the summit. You'll be exhausted when you reach the top, but the views make the effort worthwhile.
